Can you hear but not understand?
Do you confuse rhyming words such as “time” and “dime” or “take” and “bake”?
Do you find more people today mumble or slur their words?
Are you continually asking people to repeat because they aren’t speaking loudly enough?
Do others complain you have the volume on the TV or radio too loud?
Do you find conversations in a group or crowded restaurant are difficult?
Do you find everyday background noise like fans and air conditioners make it difficult to follow a conversation?
Do you feel exhausted, irritable or tense after a long conversation?
Do you do most of the talking so you don’t have to listen?
Has someone close to you commented on your inability to hear as well as you used to hear?
Do you withdraw from social situations because you don’t want to feel anxious or embarrassed?
Do you have trouble locating the location of an object from the noise it makes?
Do you have difficulty understanding unknown voices on the telephone?
Do you have ringing in the ears or other head noises (hissing, buzzing, crickets, etc.)? Tinnitus, as this noise is known, often accompanies hearing loss.
